A Symposium was held for Authors, Mentors, and Trainer of Trainers of the PREPARE Curriculum. 22 professionals attended this three day event to share their ideas, curricula, and visions for the future. Some articles from this Symposium can be seen in the “Conference Proceedings” tab.
We are in an age of population migration. This is a time when adaptation is necessary to cope with social diversity. The Prepare curriculum is a tool to support those who work with youth in order for all to gain understanding and tolerance in a changing community. The PREPSEC International Conference will provide opportunity for teachers, administrators, and youth care professionals to see the potential of social emotional competency training.

Keynote speakers: Knut K. Gundersen: Professor Emeritus at Vid Specialized University, Sandnes, Norway and President PREPSEC International, Bengt Daleflod: National Board of Institutional Care, Sweden, Robert Calame and Kim Parker: cofounders of WOLF Social Competencies, Canada, Kelli Parcher and Shannon Burns: Trainer of Trainers for Washington State Aggression Replacement Training (WSART) and Paz Consultz, USA.
Workshops were given by international specialists (including from Canada, USA, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland and the Netherlands) in the development of social and emotional learning, in four thematic strands.
Kelli Parcher, John Choi and Kim Parker presented at the 2018 International Child and Youth Care Conference in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. This year’s theme was Relational Practice where workshops shared information from a variety of perspectives and cultures. The PREPSEC International team held a 3 hour workshop entitled “Relationship: A way to PREPARE”
