Aggression Replacement Training (ART) offers a comprehensive intervention program designed to teach adolescents to understand and replace aggression and antisocial behavior with positive alternatives. ART provides a coordinated, three-part training approach:
* Prosocial Skills * Anger Control * Moral Reasoning
At the workshops Dr Børge Strømgren discusses recent applications in schools and other settings, conducted role-plays and exercises and summarised ART’s outcome evaluations. Participants included teachers, other education, health and social care staff, students and parents of adolescents with ASD. The workshop attracted considerable levels of media attention, including an article to be expected in the Northern Ireland Health Review. Participant feedback was excellent:
“Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the workshop. It was so interesting and exciting and offered lots to think about and also try and implement here at home! Everyone was so open and warm also, lovely new people to meet and it was such a nice atmosphere. It was just Borgeous.” (email received after workshop).
“It gave such a broad range of possibilities for intervention. This workshop will put me in good stead for implementing current and future behavioural interventions. Much appreciated Borge!” (FB comment).
“I shall find the material invaluable. I have been asked to give a short presentation in one of my schools about the ART sessions as I have been telling everyone how brilliant it is.” (Email received after workshop).
