Project Description

Shannon Burns has worked with court involved youth in a community setting for 25 years. Her work in Washington State involves curriculum development in cognitive behavior methods for individual delivery as well as group delivery. A key component in training these curriculums as well as delivering them has been her involvement with Motivational Interviewing and matching youth in the right interventions. She strongly believes, for any intervention to be successful, Motivational Interviewing needs to be a corner stone of development, referral, and of course delivery.

She is an instructor at the Criminal Justice Training Commission for case management and Motivational Interviewing. On a local level she continues to be a case-carrying manager and prides herself in delivering the curriculums developed that include components of the PREPARE Curriculum. Her greatest mentor, Dr. Sara Salmon, is still key to her involvement with the Center for Anti-Bullying and Non-Violence. She is honored to continue her work and legacy.
